Fab Friday 19

It's Friday and time for a new Fab Friday challenge. Yay! We have a fun sketch at Fab Friday this time. Check it out!

And here is my take on it...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Embellished Events, Friendly Phrases
Paper: Summer Startfruit, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White, 2012-2013 In Color DSP stack
Ink: Summer Startfruit, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green
Accessories: Big Shot, 3" Circle die, Square punch (to make the banner), pearls

This is a pretty simple card, but I am happy with the way it turned out. My lack of stamping lately has really made it a struggle to just sit down and make something I like, so this is actually the second card I made for this challenge. The first one will never get posted because it was just that bad. We all have reject cards once in a while. It's just part of the process, I guess.

I am going to make it a priority to do more stamping and blogging now that school is almost out. Maybe the kids need to have "craft time", "quiet time", or "outside time" in order for Mommy to get a little time to stamp, but I will do whatever it takes. If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, right? Does anyone else find that stamping time always gets pushed to the back burner when life gets busy? I wish it wasn't that way, or that there were more hours in a day, or that there were two of me. Ha! Maybe someday... ;-)

Anyway, have a fantastic weekend and please come and play along with us at Fab Friday!

Blooming With Kindness for Fab Friday

TGIF! Wow! It has been a long week and I'm glad that Friday is finally here. As the end of the school year approaches, life has gotten busy, busy, busy. There are so many activities and field trips and programs! Add to that my son's soccer schedule, and it seems that I run all week long. Speaking of running, one of my New Year's Resolutions was to become an actual runner (not just a crazy mom running all over the place) and I am proud to say that I have actually met my goal. On April 27th, I ran in my first ever 5k and it was wonderful! I had never been a runner before and when I started, it was definitely a struggle. I used the Couch to 5k app on my iPhone and it really helped me reach my goal. Here is a picture of me just after I crossed the finish line. My official time was 33:59 (a personal best by over a minute).

And here is a picture of "Team Josh". We had special shirts made and ran in memory of my dear friend, Josh, who sadly passed away this past December. He was a great inspiration to me in my journey to get fit and we miss him terribly. The airplane in the background is a C5 military jet. The race was held at the Air National Guard base that is practically in my backyard.

OK, enough personal stuff. You visited to see my card for Fab Friday and here it is...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Papillon Potpourri
Paper: Raspberry Ripple, Soft Suede, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, 2013-2014 In Color DSP stack (retiring)
Ink: Soft Suede, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit
Accessories: Big Shot, Apothecary Accents framelits, Fancy Fan embossing folder, small butterfly punch, Raspberry Ripple stitched satin ribbon, pearls

To make my flower have a little extra dimension, I stamped it once and then moved the stamp slightly and stamped again without re-inking. I really like this flower done this way. I did this card as a class card because it could easily be used for lots of different occasions simply by switching the sentiment.

The challenge this week is a color challenge. Check it out...

Isn't it a pretty combination of colors? I hope you will come on over to Fab Friday and play along with us!

Have a wonderful weekend!

May Class Cards

Hello there! I held my May Stamping Class last Friday night and wanted to share the cards that we made. I tried to focus on spring and summer holidays and occasions. We made cards for wedding, graduation, father's day, mother's day, and sympathy.

Our Father's Day card...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Delightful Dozen, Woodgrain
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Vellum CS (to make the mask)
Ink: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler marker
Accessories: Big Shot, Hearts framelits, Large Heart punch, Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack, Paper Piercer, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Naturals Designer Buttons, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine
Technique: Masking

This card was inspired by a card on page 75 of the brand new Annual Catalog. To make the woodgrain heart, I cut a heart out of vellum cardstock using the Hearts framelits. I then used a temporary adhesive to attach the vellum to my Crumb Cake cardstock. I placed my Woodgrain background stamp rubber side up on the table, inked it up with my Early Espresso pad, placed my cardstock (with the vellum attached) onto the stamp and lightly rubbed the back. After that, I lifted the cardstock off the stamp and peeled off the vellum. Voila- a woodgrain heart! How fun is that? I dressed the card up a bit with some paper piercing and a button.

Our Mother's Day card...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Ink: Rapberry Ripple
Accessories: Big Shot, Lattice die, Floral Fusion sizzlit, Little Leaves sizzlit, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, pearls, glue dots
Inspired by this card made by Jill Franchett

I really like the way that Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple look when paired together. This fun Floral Fusion sizzlit makes the cutest flowers! Just layer them up with a glue dot in between the layers, and they are done!

Our graduation card...

Stampin' Up Supplies:
Stamps: Blue Ribbon
Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White, Brights DSP stack
Ink: Pacific Point, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Big Shot, Tasteful Trim die, Stripes EF, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Brights Buttons, Island Indigo baker's twine, SAMJ

I just got the Blue Ribbon stamp set and I love it! It makes cute graduation cards like this one or you could turn it into a fun masculine/gender neutral birthday card by switching the center of the ribbon to the birthday sentiment. I used the Color Coach to come up with this bright color combination. I don't think I would have come up with it on my own, but I like the way these colors look together!

Our wedding card...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Word Play (retiring)
Paper: Pool Party, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Black Staz On
Accessories: Big Shot, Manhattan Flower EF, Lots of Tags Sizzlit (retiring), Large Oval punch, Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon (retiring), rhinestone

I love that this one is so sparkly! Weddings are the perfect occasion for a little bling and sparkle!

Our sympathy Card...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Just Believe (retiring), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Baja Breeze (retiring), Certainly Celery (retiring), Perfect Plum, Very Vanilla
Ink: Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Ovals framelits, Lacy Brocade EF (retiring), Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, Perfect Plum Taffeta ribbon, pearls

I love the color combination of green, blue, and purple. These subtle colors are just right for a sympathy card. I will really miss the Just Believe stamp set as well as Baja Breeze. :(

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop back on Friday to see the latest Fab Friday challenge!

Fab Friday 17 (a week late)

Hey there, stampers! I have my card for the current sketch challenge at Fab Friday. I missed the design team deadline because I was experiencing major technical difficulties last week. My Photoshop stopped working and when my hubby went to fix it, he discovered that I had a virus on my computer. The whole thing had to be wiped and reformatted- yikes! Anyway, it is all cleaned up and I am back in business. Technology is great when it works, but when it doesn't, it can really throw life into a tailspin.

Anyway, here is my card for the fun sketch.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Patterned Party, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Print Poetry DSP
Ink: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green (markers)
Accessories: Midnight Muse stitched satin ribbon, silver mini brads, Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, paper piercer, stampin' pierce mat

If you want to get this fun birthday set, Patterned Party, be sure to order it before June 3rd because it is on the retiring list. You can view the full stamp set retiring list here and the retiring accessories here.

Here is the Fab Friday sketch. Come and play along with us! The challenge is open until Thursday morning.

I have a class tonight and will try to get our projects posted sometime over the weekend, so please be sure to stop back by! Have a great Friday!
