2012 Year in Review (Part Two)

Hello again! I'm back to share part two of my Year in Review for 2012. Picking favorites for the second half of the year was a challenge. I had 13 blog posts in July alone! Here are my faves for July through December. Enjoy!

July

I'm not sure that I can really express how much I LOVE this stamp set. It has to be one of my favorites ever. I also love it paired with this DSP. A fun Fall card!

August

See? I told you I loved the jar! This is the same DSP that I used in the card above, but these patterns gave this card a different look.

September

This was the Christmas card that I sent out to my customers. I loved all of the shimmer on this one!

October

I loved this sketch and I thought it worked really well with this color combination because it allowed me to use the strips of DSP to incorporate a color challenge that I really like, but found quite challenging.

November

I really liked this color combination for a fall card.

December

This was my first ever page made with My Digital Studio. I had so much fun designing it and was really please with the end result.

There you have it! Good bye 2012 and Hello 2013! Happy New Year!!!!!!

2012 Year in Review (Part One)

Hello all! I'm sorry that I haven't been blogging lately. December is always a busy month as we prepare for Christmas, but this December also had several sad events for my family and they occupied my mind and my time. Stamping simply hasn't been a priority. I am very hopeful for things to turn around in 2013. I am anxious for a new year and a fresh outlook. I hope you are as well.

I decided to look back through my blog posts for the year as part of my reflection on 2012. I was reminded of the "Year in Review" post from last year and thought it would be fun to do another one. To keep this post from getting long and boring, I will post only one card for each month and break the list up into two parts. Check back tomorrow for part two.

I have to say that I am proud of where my stamping has taken me this year. Early in the year, I participated in a monthly blog hop that really helped to get me out of my comfort zone and take the leap to start designing my own projects (rather than mostly CASEing my creations). In May, I entered many stamping challenges,  and much to my great surprise, I actually won a few of them. It was a real boost to my confidence in my stamping ability. In August, I became a design team member for the Fab Friday challenge. In December, I finally took the plunge and tried my hand at My Digital Studio and loved it. It has been a good stamping year.

Without further ado, here are my favorite creations for 2012...

January

This card was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest. I love the colors and textured hearts. This was a card at my January class and man, did my Big Shot get a workout!

February

I made these adorable little lollipop holders for Valentine's Day. I loved the bright, non-traditional colors.

March

I made this little Easter treat for a workshop in March. I just loved this paper and the fact that the M&M's matched it almost perfectly made it even cuter!

April

I'll admit that this is not one of my all-time favorite cards, but I did design it myself and was proud of that fact so it still made the list. ;-) I do like the bright colors and little flower buttons.

May

May was a good stamping month, so choosing a favorite was tough. I loved everything about this card- the colors, the sketch (both from challenges), and the textures.

June

Love the colors and the bling on this one!

OK! That's it for part one. Stop back tomorrow to see my faves for July through December. Thanks for stopping by!

Fab Snowman

It's time once again for another Fab Friday challenge! I can't believe how quickly the two weeks between challenges seem to go sometimes. Now that we are into December, I'm sure that time will fly by even faster right on through Christmas. Why is it that as a child, December was the slooooowest month and as an adult it is the fastest? Anyway, I hope that you are having a wonderful holiday season so far and that you are able to enjoy all the fun and wonder of Christmas. In that spirit, I have two Christmas-y projects to share using Mindy's color combination for the new challenge.

My first project is a card using one of my favorite sets for Christmas, Snow Much Fun. I just love the two adorable snowmen in this set!

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Snow Much Fun, Tiny Tags
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Gumball Green, Pool Party, 2012-2014 In Color DSP stack
Ink: Black Staz On, Whisper White Craft (for sponging), Basic Gray, Real Red, Gumball Green, Pool Party, Primrose Petals markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Snowburst EF, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Window Frames Collection framelits, Tiny Tag punch, Gumball Green ribbon, Festive Paper Piercing Pack

This card also combines two other challenges for this week. The sketch is from iSpy Sketches and the snowman theme is for the challenge at the Paper Players.

As a bonus, I did a second project, which is an MDS page. Since I started playing around with it last night and this morning, I can't seem to leave it alone. Here is a page I did of my daughter's second Christmas. I think it still needs some tweeking, but here it is in its current state.

Supplies Used: MDS2, Old Saint Nick brush set, tag punch, Real Red grosgrain ribbon knot

Well, thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come and play along with us at Fab Friday! The challenge ends on Thursday, December 20th.

First Ever MDS Page!

I'm so excited! I have had My Digital Studio for well over a year and while I have tinkered around with it, I have never made anything that I liked. I recently upgraded to MDS2+ and have been playing around with it a bit more.

Last night, I joined a new group on Facebook all about My Digital Studio and they posted an awesome video on how to insert a picture into multiple photo boxes, so I decided to give it a try and managed to finish my very first page!

I used one of my most favorite pictures of my son, Isaac. This picture was taken in February 2010 when we received over FOUR FEET of snow! Isaac wanted to sled ride, but it was impossible with so much snow. My husband, Jason, my sister, Marcy, and I dug out a trail in our front and side yard complete with a turn and a jump at the end! We had so much fun sledding on it and the best part was that I was able to capture the fun with this great picture.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Digital Downloads: Old Saint Nick brush stamp set, Month by Month brush stamp set, Sweet Details 4 Designer Series Paper

I hope you like my first page! If you are interested in learning more about My Digital Studio, please visit www.mydigitalstudio.net to see all that it can do. If you are interested in joining the Simply My Digital Studio Challenge Page on Facebook (which is open to everyone) click here to request to join.

Edited to add an updated version of the page. I continued to play around with it and decided to try to crop in the picture a bit more. This is the second version, but I think I prefer the first one. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to stop back by tomorrow for the new Fab Friday challenge!
