Reason to Smile for Freshly Made Sketches

Today's card is a little preview of one of the cards will be making at my class tomorrow afternoon. When I sat down to design the cards, my first stop was Freshly Made Sketches. I love their sketch challenges! I used the new set called Reason to Smile that will be available as a special promotion during the month of July. I paired it with neutral colors just for something different. Hope you like it!

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Reason to Smile, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, Crumb Cake seam binding, dimentionals

This is a short post because I am off to my son's swim lessons. I hope you enjoyed the card! Here is the sketch. Go and play along!

Blast Off!

Hello all! My hubby just gave me a crash course in Photoshop and I was playing around with a picture of a card and decided to go ahead and post it. Also, notice my new watermark! My hubby also created it for me this evening. I have been wanting to add a watermark to my pictures for a while now, but just lacked the computer know how to make it work. Good thing I am married to an IT specialist!

If you are wondering about the squirrel in the watermark, all I can say is that squirrels are my favorite animal (not in an "I want one as a pet" sort of way, but more in an "I enjoy watching them scamper from a safe distance" kind of way). There were squirrels in the yard at my first grown up apartment and I used to watch them in the mornings while I drank my coffee and ate breakfast and my love of squirrels grew from there.

OK, enough about computers, watermarks, and squirrels! You probably would like to see a card. Well, here you go!

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Blast Off, Outer Space wheel
Paper: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Tangerine Tango, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Raspberry Ripple
Accessories: 2 1/2" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, Color Spritzer, dimensionals

I just love this adorable little set! My son, Isaac, is almost seven and he chose this as "his" set, so that gave me a little extra motivation to order it. He has already stamped a couple of cards with it that I will have to post sometime. It is a great set for little boy cards!

The moon is made with two circles punched with the 2 1/2" circle punch. The top layer was punched with a 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, and a standard office supply circle punch (1/8" inch, maybe?) to create craters. I then used the color spritzer with the Summer Starfruit marker to give it a speckled appearance and popped the top layer up with dimensionals making sure to line it up with the bottom circle.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to stop back by soon. I have a class this Saturday and all of the cards we are making are my own original designs (first time that has ever happened!). I will be posting them very soon, so be on the lookout!

Laila's Butterflies

Hello all! I have a special card to share today. My BSF (best stampy friend) Rita is having her baby girl, Laila, TOMORROW! I made this card for her and had to wait until she received it before posting it.

The colors for this card came from an old challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. It was to use Basic Gray, Basic Black, Sahara Sand, and Daffodil Delight. These just happen to be the colors that Rita used to decorate Laila's nursery, so they were perfect for a welcome baby card for her. I used an old sketch from Pals Paper Arts for this card as well.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Sweet Essentials
Paper: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Sahara Sand, and Daffodil Delight
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Elegant Butterfly punch, scallop trim border punch, 1 3/4" scalloped circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, basic pearls

Rita, I can't wait to finally see pictures of your sweet precious girl! I wish you all the happiness in the world!

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Bling Bling!

I got a new order of stamping supplies yesterday afternoon and got a chance this evening to sit down and play a little while. I love getting new stamps, but it is sometimes a little overwhelming to get lots of new things all at once. I didn't know where to start.

I love the new set, Topsy Turvy Celebration, so I decided to start there. I love to watch baking shows and competitions on TV and topsy turvy cakes are so much fun! I combined two challenges for this card. The sketch is from Try Stamping on Tuesday and the color combination is from Dynamic Duos.

Stampin' Up Supplies:
Stamps: Topsy Turvy Celebration
Paper: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Brights DSP stack
Ink: Basic Black, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Big Shot, Chevron EF, Scallop Trim Border punch, Basic Black satin ribbon (retired), basic pearls, basic rhinestones, large pearls

I made three different versions of this card before settling on this one, so I hope you like it! Exactly how many times can you remake the same card?!?

Take a look at the challenges and play along...

Freshly Made Sketches + ColorQ

Long time no blog! Sorry about that! I was out of town visiting family and it has taken me some time to get back in the swing of things and adapt to our summer schedule. I am not yet finding our summer days to be relaxed and carefree. We seem to be doing a lot of running around and are away from the house quite a bit. It makes it difficult to fit in stamping time.

I'm trying to get back to regularly participating in challenges. I had so much fun doing them a couple of weeks ago, and to my great surprise, three out of the four cards I made received at least an honorable mention on the challenge blogs. That was a great feeling! As someone who has CASEd many projects over the years, it is good to know that I am able to come up with decent designs on my own.

Here is today's card combining the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches with the color combination at ColorQ.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Paper: Midnight Muse, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Ink: Midnight Muse
Accessories: Big Shot, Fun Flowers die, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Boho Blossoms punch, Blossom Petals Builder punch, In Color brad, Mat pack, paper piercer

I just love this die! It is my go to die when I am struggling to come up with an idea. I don't think you can make an ugly card with it! This card is fairly simple, but it would be an excellent card to make if you needed to make several and it could be any type of card just by changing the sentiment! Love that! Anyway, hope you liked my card. Check out the two challenges and play along!

Thanks for stopping by!

ColorQ + Retro Sketches

Hi all! I haven't exactly kept up with my stamping everyday challenge. Life gets busy sometimes. I am stamping when I can and here is my most recent creation. I used the challenges at ColorQ and Retro Sketches for this one.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Raining Flowers, Friendly Phrases
Paper: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Scallop Border Punch, Crumb Cake seam binding, basic pearls, dimensionals, SAMJ

Somehow, in all of my stacks and stacks of DSP, I didn't have any in Bashful Blue, so I tried making my own. I haven't done this much before, but it turned out OK. It required the used of the Stamp-a-ma-jig and a little time, but that paper just needed a little something extra.

I hope you like my card. Check out the challenges and try to play along...
