Washi Tape for Fab Friday!

Wow! Those two weeks just slipped away from me! In the past two weeks, both of my kiddos have celebrated their birthdays (and my hubby's is tomorrow) and school has started! We have had a skating party, a family party, and a trip to the American Girl store. Is it hard to believe that my stamp time has been extremely limited?!? My youngest started Kindergarten on Monday so I am adjusting to my new routine and schedule as a SAHM with all of her kids in school. I have to say that so far, I'm not loving it. Sure, I have more time to myself and am able to get more done (and much more efficiently), but my house is just SO quiet. I miss my little rascals during the day. I told my husband that I may have to resort to watching trashy daytime TV just to have a little bit of noise in the house!

So, anyway, my apologies for not posting, but at least now you understand the reason. It is time for another challenge at Fab Friday! Yay! It is a sketch challenge this time. Check it out!

I see lots of possibilities for this sketch. It is a pretty versatile one! I am teaching two classes today all about washi tape, so I have it on the brain and decided to use it for my card. I think this card could easily fit many occasions by simply changing the sentiment.

Isn't that bow pretty? I saw a youtube video about how to tie them and decided to give it a try. It wasn't hard, but I will have to do it MANY more times before I can do it on my own.

You Are My Sunshine...

Hey there stampers! Just a quick post tonight. I am taking a few weeks off from teaching stamping classes because life is going to be very busy over the coming weeks. I LOVE teaching classes, but I find that I don't stamp very often unless I am preparing for an event. I hope to use this break from classes to stamp more for fun and do more challenges. My stamping really seems to improve when I "challenge" myself more often.

In that spirit, I sat down tonight and finally inked up the new single stamp "Sunshine" (available until March 31st) that I ordered not long ago. I love this stamp. It is super cute and it reminds me of my two sweet kiddos because I used to (badly) sing "You Are My Sunshine" to them when they were babies. I learned a new technique in the online class called "The Basics" offered by SU! and wanted to pair it with this stamp. What do you think?

January Class Cards (Part 3)

Hello again! Here is my final post with my January cards. (I did reserve one card to share at a later date.) This one is a fun birthday card using the Sycamore Street DSP and the Patterned Occasions stamp set (both available for free through Sale-a-Bration) and the Hearts a Flutter framelites. It is a CASE of a card made by Krista Fenton. I try not to CASE much any more, but when I see a card that is as cute as this one, I can't help myself. :)

Dress Up Catalog CASE

Hello stampers! It is a busy, busy week so this is a going to be a quick post. I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a birthday party for one of my daughter's friends. We are really working the little girl birthday party circuit lately. I (amazingly) had the foresight to make an extra copy of this card for another party coming up in a few weeks. My girly girl has had her eye on this set (Dress Up) since the annual catalog came out and I finally broke down and got it for her during the recent stamp sale. My inspiration for this card came from the catalog. There is a sample card made with this set and I just changed it up a bit to make it my own. I hope you like it!

Blue & Gold Ornament

Hi stampers! Here is another card from my Christmas buffets coming up in October. When I sat down to work on this one, I didn't have a very clear plan and just played and this is what happened. I like the end result and I think that my customers will like it too. I guess it is my West Virginia heritage that influenced this color combination. (Blue and gold are the state colors of West Virginia.)

Shimmery Evergreen

It is very hard to read the print in this picture, but the words that make the tree shape are from Silent Night, which is one of my favorite Christmas hymns.

A little trick for this card- cut out the star for the top of the tree (and maybe a couple of other shapes to save for another project) from the center of the piece of Glimmer paper layered behind the main image panel. This will save you some money and help that beautiful paper last and last.

Christmas Shimmer

Hello again! I had an open stamping event earlier this evening and I made a promise to myself that I would actually stamp and not just sit, talk, and eat (like I normally do). I am happy to report that I made FOUR cards! This has to be a new record!

The first card I made was for this week's challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. They are celebrating their first anniversary and the challenge is to make a card using any of their past sketches. I chose sketch #19 and flipped it on its side (because I can never just do a sketch the way it is designed). I am not one to brag, but I just LOVE this card. It might be my favorite card that I have ever made! So sparkly and pretty! OK, enough talking about it, here it is...

Here is a trick for getting a border of glimmer paper around your ornaments- cut the ornament shape out of the glimmer paper with the framelit, then cut your stamped ornament with scissors and layer them. The framelits leave enough border around the stamped image to produce this sparkly edging for the ornament. I discovered this trick after seeing this card made by Jennifer Brum.

Cookie Jar

I know- two posts in a row using the same stamp set. I promise that I will move on soon, but I really, really LOVE this set!

I got both of these stamp sets yesterday, and as I was looking at them, I wondered if the gingerbread man would fit inside the jar. I decided to give it a try, and he was a perfect (slightly snug) fit. I was so excited! So, here is my very first Christmas card of 2012...

Quick Easter Card!

Can you believe that Easter is next Sunday? Wow! The winter just flew by (probably because we never really had winter weather)! Spring is upon us and I am so excited because that means that my most favorite season (Summer) will be here soon!

I have a sweet, quick, and simple Easter card to share today. We made this a a workshop last week and everyone really liked it. I will admit that I don't often send out Easter cards, but when I saw this post on Lee Ann Greff's blog, I had to CASE (copy) her lily Easter card. I may even send a few cards out this year!

I love this image from Fifth Avenue Floral. I love lillies! In fact, Tiger Lillies are my very favorite flower. I love driving along a country road (or any road really) on an early summer day and seeing the vibrant orange of the tiger lillies growing everywhere. They also bloom close to my birthday every year, so that only adds to my love of them. I will have to plan to redo this card in orange!

Anyway, back to the card... although it is a fairly simple design, this card uses a lot of Stampin' Up's awesome new products. It made for a perfect workshop card. Do you see the faint score lines in the background? I made them with the brand new Diagonal Plate for the Simply Scored tool. It is a really cool addition to the Simply Scored and it makes quick and easy work of a fun background. You can also use it to make your own envelopes! Contact me for more information on ordering the Diagonal Plate (or any other products).

My Very First Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop Sale-a-Bration and Valentine edition! This blog hop will take place on the first Thursday of each month. The blog hop started a couple of months ago, but I decided to take the plunge and hop right in beginning this month! This month the theme of the blog hop is Sale-a-Bration and Valentines Day. I did one project for each theme. My first project is a fun folds card. I have to admit that I really have never branched out and done fun folds, but I saw a great video tutorial on Mary Fish's blog on Tuesday (yes, two days ago- I am a procrastinator and sometimes it pays off!) that showed how to make a really great (and easy) fun fold card and I decided to give it a try. I wanted something a little bit different and special for my very first blog hop! If you would like to try making a card like this, go check out the tutorial that Mary Fish posted.

What do you think? I really like the way that this card turned out. I am LOVING the DSP in the SAB catalog! I have gone through almost an entire pack already, but have no fear- more is on its way! Although I was a little hesitant to try a different fold, I have to say that this one is really easy and this card went together very quickly. If you have never done a fun fold, give this one a try. It is great for a first fun fold card!

I did some sweet and simple Valentine's Day lollipop holders for my 3D project. I saw some made by Angie Juda on Pinterest and followed the easy instructions in her video tutorial to make them. I used the Sweet Shop DSP from the Occasions mini catalog as well as the Fashionable Hearts embosslit to embellish these little treats.

This one was my favorite. I love the color combination on this little treat. So bright and cheery!
